核聚變領域再掀熱潮:英偉達攜手谷歌,助力MIT初創公司獲8.63億美元融資

在能源科技領域,一項重大的融資事件近日引發了廣泛關注。美國核聚變初創企業Commonwealth Fusion Systems(CFS)宣布,在B2系列融資輪次中成功募集了8.63億美元,這一數字不僅彰顯了資本市場對核聚變技術的濃厚興趣,也標志著CFS在推進核聚變商業化道路上邁出了堅實的一步。

此次融資陣容星光熠熠,包括AI芯片巨頭英偉達通過其風險投資部門NVentures首次參與,以及谷歌、比爾·蓋茨支持的Breakthrough Energy Ventures、史蒂夫·喬布斯遺孀Laurene Powell Jobs的Emerson Collective等重量級投資者。至此,CFS累計籌資額已接近30億美元,占據了全球私營核聚變行業融資總額的三分之一,無疑是該領域內資金最為充裕的公司。

CFS首席執行官Bob Mumgaard在新聞發布會上表示,公司在投資規模、執行能力、科學進展、透明度及合作廣度等方面均展現了領導地位。公司高級副總裁Ally Yost則補充說,這次融資是深科技領域歷史上規模最大的幾輪融資之一,凸顯了核聚變技術的巨大潛力。

然而,實現可控核聚變面臨諸多技術挑戰。其中,最關鍵的是需要創造并維持超過1億攝氏度的極端高溫環境,使燃料變成等離子體,并有效約束以實現持續的聚變反應。CFS采用托卡馬克裝置,利用強大磁場約束等離子體,并通過高溫超導磁體技術實現創新突破。這一技術使得聚變裝置更加緊湊、成本更低、性能更強,為商業化應用奠定了堅實基礎。

CFS計劃利用新籌集的資金,重點推進兩個核心項目。首先是位于美國馬薩諸塞州德文斯的SPARC示范裝置建設。SPARC是一個緊湊型、高磁場聚變裝置,旨在實現凈能量增益。預計將于2026年開始運行,并在2027年歷史性地實現聚變反應產生的能量超過驅動和維持反應所消耗的能量。一旦SPARC成功,CFS將全力推進其首個商業化發電廠ARC的建設。ARC發電廠選址于弗吉尼亞州,設計發電功率為400兆瓦,足以滿足約15萬戶家庭的用電需求。谷歌已與CFS簽署電力購買協議,承諾購買ARC電廠建成后一半的電力輸出。

在全球范圍內,核聚變技術的商業化競爭日益激烈。除了CFS,美國還有多家備受矚目的初創公司,如與微軟簽署供電協議的Helion Energy,以及獲得亞馬遜創始人杰夫·貝索斯個人投資的加拿大公司General Fusion。同時,中國也在核聚變領域取得了顯著進展。中國聚變能源有限公司的成立,以及全超導托卡馬克核聚變實驗裝置EAST在2025年初實現1億攝氏度1066秒的高質量等離子體運行,都展示了中國在核聚變技術上的雄心和實力。
